ELECTRONIC DESIGN AND AUTOMATION (EDA) LABORATORY
The Electronic Design and Automation Laboratory works under the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. This laboratory with 35 high end computers and a server class machine has in it a set of expensive design and simulation softwares like Matlab, Orcad, WinXP, Codecomposer Studio, ActivHDL and so on to cater to the departmental research and development activities. Softwares for a wide area of research via Signal Processing, VLSI and Embedded Systems have found wide applications in the EDA Lab. Student centric learning kits Like BLOOM with DSP from Cranes Softwares are also licensed to be used within the laboratory. The EDA Laboratory has also in its possession an array of hardware utilities like Texas Instruments TMS320C6713 based Digital Signal Processors, XILINX SPARTAN-3 based Field Programmable Gate Arays, XILINX COOL RUNNER ‒ II CPLD, IAR Systems ARM Processors and so on. A number of student projects and faculty projects have been designed, tested and prototype developed in the Electronic Design and Automation Laboratory.

ANALOG COMMUNICATION AND DIGITAL COMMUNICATION LAB
Communication laboratory has the highest priority among the various labs in the curriculum of Electronics and communication engineering students for undergraduate courses. It handles various practical experiments in the field of microwave engineering and optical fiber communication.
The Communication laboratory caters to the regular class work of Communication Engineering – I laboratory of the 5th semester ECE students and Communication Engineering – II lab of the 7th semester ECE students. and Communication Engineering – II laboratory is for various digital modulation methods like ASK, FSK, PSK etc.
Students also use the laboratory for the mini-project, main-project implementations. The Communication laboratory has also in its possession an array of various different devices like Optical Fiber Trainer kit, Microwave Benches, TV Trainer kit, Satellite Communication Trainer kit, PLC Trainer kit, Various Types of Modulation kits etc.

VLSI & EMBEDDED SYSTEMS LAB
The rapid development within the field of Embedded Systems Design that has taken place over the last years offers new possibilities for designers of Home Appliances, Industrial monitoring and controlling devices, Medical Instrumentations etc. The department of Electronics and Communication is setting a full-fledged Embedded Systems lab keeping in mind the current trend so as to produce industry ready employees. The lab will be one of its first kinds, amongst the engineering colleges of Kerala. The lab will have processors with 8bit, 16bit and 32bit processing capabilities. The lab will be equipped with most sophisticated development boards for final year projects of the B.Tech students. The lab is aiming to design good quality products for the present electronics market.

PRODUCT DESIGN LAB
The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has a full fledged product development laboratory. The lab has all facilities which provide a clear cut idea of the processes behind the Electronic Product Design. The lab caters to the requirement of students for carrying out mini-project and major project in the department itself. The key features of the laboratory are A Printed Circuit Board Lab, Licensed Simulation and Design Tools, Facilities required to fabricate any B Tech level electronic products such as Workshop Tables, Bench wise Drilling Machines, Grinding machine Bending machine Sheet cutter, Transformer winding machine etc. The lab also stock all required items to make models of the products before actual fabrication.

ANALOG CIRCUITS LAB
The Analog Circuits Lab caters to the requirement of the students with respect to various lab sessions. The lab has all the required equipments and consumables to carry out the experiments as per the syllabus as well as a few experiments beyond the syllabus. Different charts related to the experiments done in the lab, photographs of the inventers related to electronics devices and Linear Integrated Circuits and instructions for carrying out experiments in the lab are displayed.

DIGITAL ELECTRONICS LABORATORY
An engineer who wants to understand existing digital circuits or to design new ones needs to know the basic operations of digital electronics. Digital Electronics Laboratory is fully equipped with the required instruments such as C.R.O., Millimeters, signal Generator etc. to conduct experiments with digital ICs for UG students. Digital electronics is also the base of computer technology. Today complete computers on a single chip, called microcontrollers, bring “intelligence” to many products of our daily use.

MAINTENANCE WING
As an innovative practice of the department, a maintenance wing is set up. The wing looks after the maintenance of all the equipments in the department. All the activities of the wing are well documented. Most of the repairing of the equipment is done by the wing itself, except a few repairing where, the work has to be done by the manufacturing company itself.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT LAB
Research plays an important role in the educational experience and provides practical skills for future employment of engineering students. The lab is set up with the objective to motivate and encourage students to take up research projects based on innovative ideas. This provides a platform for ECE students to participate in ground breaking research with faculty.
