Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and Technology, Palai has been constituted in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to ensure the continuous enhancement of quality in all aspects of institutional functioning.
The IQAC serves as a catalyst for improving academic and administrative performance, fostering innovation, and ensuring the holistic development of students. It works towards developing a quality culture within the institution by planning, guiding, and monitoring quality assurance and quality enhancement activities.
Objectives of IQAC:
- To develop a system for conscious, consistent, and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution.
- To promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices.
Functions of IQAC:
- Designing and implementing annual quality assurance plans.
- Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment that fosters quality education and skill development.
- Collecting and analyzing feedback from stakeholders for continuous improvement.
- Promoting research, innovation, and extension activities.
- Organizing workshops, seminars, and awareness programs on quality-related themes.
- Preparing the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) for submission to the statutory bodies.
The IQAC at SJCET Palai functions as a dynamic system for quality assurance, engaging all stakeholders—students, faculty, staff, alumni, and industry partners—in its mission to achieve excellence in education, research, and community engagement.

Ministers Excellence Award 2025
Dr. V P Devassia, principal & IQAC chairman, accompanied by Prof. Sabarinath G. Pillai, IQAC member, receiving the Ministers Excellence Award 2025 from Dr. R Bindu, Minister of Higher Education and Social Justice, Govt. of Kerala, in the honourable presence of NAAC advisor, for achieving NAAC A grade in the very first cycle.
OBE Awareness Session for Faculty Members
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and Technology, Palai, organized an Awareness Session on Outcome Based Education (OBE) for the faculty members.
The session aimed to familiarize faculty with the principles and practices of OBE, focusing on the systematic approach to designing curriculum, teaching, learning, and assessment processes to ensure the achievement of desired program outcomes. Resource persons explained the significance of mapping Course Outcomes (COs), Program Outcomes (POs), and Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs), as well as the role of continuous assessment and feedback in improving the quality of education.
