AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT
Harmonious development of students
- To provide facilities and opportunities for sports and games to every student of SJCET
- To provide special training and coaching to the talented students and enable them to participate successfully in various competitions getting laurels to themselves and bringing honours to the college.
- To make the students of SJCET, physically healthy, mentally alert, morally upright, emotionally balanced and socially acceptable through participation in Sports and Games.

2023-2024
KTU C Zone Cricket Tournament
Our Cricket (M) team participated in the KTU C Zone Cricket tournament at Munnar from 20th to 22nd March 2024. In the First round we lost to Carmel College of Engineering, Punnapra.
Kottayam District Cricket Association B Division League
College cricket team participated in the Kottayam District Cricket Association B Division League tournament at CMS College, Kottayam from 2. 3.2024 to 16. 3. 2024.
KTU C Zone Championsip
College bagged Runner up position in the KTU C Zone Football Championship organised at RIT Pampadi and thus qualified to participate in the KTU Inter-zone championship.
KTU Inter Zone Championship
Football team participated in the KTU Inter-zone Football championship at TKM college of Engineering, Kollam from 7th to 10th March 2024.
In the pre- quarter final match we beat SCTE, Thiruvananthapuram 4-2.
In the quarter finals we lost to the host team (4-0 ) who eventually won the championship.
Athletics
Five athletes from our college (Three boys and Two girls) participated in the KTU Annual Athletic Meet at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram from 1st to 3rd March 2024.
Indraj, our second year student became the pride our college by bagging the silver medal in 110m Hurdles.
Anju Benny, our third year student came fifth in High jump (W).
Basketball boys
College Basketball (M) team participated in the KTU C Zone Inter collegiate championship at Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirappally on 28th- 29th October 2023 and became second runner up.
Basketball Girls
College Basketball (M) team participated in the KTU C Zone Inter collegiate championship at Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirappally on 28th- 29th October 2023.
Badminton
The college Shuttle Badminton (M) team participated in the KTU C Zone championship at MBCET, Kuttikkanam on 4th November 2023. The team lost in Quarter Finals.
South Zone Inter University Table Tennis
Navneet Varma of S6 CS participated in the South Zone Inter University Table Tennis Championship at Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai from 1st to 3rd February 2024 representing KTU.
Softball
Jishnu Prasannan, S8 Civil has been selected to represent KTU in Softball. Dates of Inter university meet have not been finalised yet.
Annual Athletic Meet
The annual athletic meet 2023-24 was organised on Wednesday, 28th February 2024. The programme started with march past of the athletes and NCC cadets in which more than 500 students took part. Chairman Fr. Joseph Maleparambil received the salute. After flag hoisting the chairman Fr. Joseph Maleparambil inaugurated the meet.
Events started around 9.40 am. This there was huge enthusiasm amongst the students to take part in every event. The meet came to an end by 3 pm.
In the march past, Spartans came first , Titans were the runner up and Samurai and Asgardians bagged third and fourth positions respectively.
In the boys section, First place was shared between Asgardians and Titans with 35 points. Samurai came second with 21 points and Spartans were third with 18 points.
In the girls section, Titans bagged the first place with 28 points, Samurai were runner up with 26 points, Asgardians were third with 20 and Spartans came fourth with 17 points.
2022-2023
Intercollegiate Basketball Tournament
At Amal Jyothi College of Engineering and Technology Kanjirapally, intercollegiate basketball tournament has been held. We earned the title of runner-up in the contest. And we’ve been advanced to the following inter-zone contest at Ilahia College of Engineering and Technology Muvatupuzha.
Intercollegiate Volleyball Tournament
On November 14, 2022, St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology Chengannur conducted an intercollegiate volleyball tournament, and our team, consisting of 12 players, participated in that event.

KTU C Zone & Inter Zone Football Tournament
On December 5th to 7th, 2022, RIT Kottayam had conducted the C Zone Football tournament, and our team, consisting of 18 players, participated in that event and secured runner-up in the tournament. By securing the runner-up we were advanced to the inter zone football tournament at Vidya Academy of Science and Technology on 14/12/2022. First match was between MA College Kothamangalam and we won the match by 2-1. Then we faced the defending champions TKM Kollam and we lose the match.
Intercollegiate Cricket Tournament
On January 08, 2023, Munnar Engineering College conducted the intercollegiate Cricket
APJAKTU Karate Championship
On 19/12/2022, APJAKTU Karate Championship 2022-23 was conducted at MA College of Engineering, Kothamangalam. 7 students (6 boys and 1 girl) had participated in this event.
Mr. Jagan S. (S1 EEE) of SJCET Palai had won the Gold Medal (Boys Kumite – 50kg) in the APJAKTU Karate Championship 2022-23 at MA College of Engineering, Kothamangalam on 19/12/2022. He will represent APJAKTU in the National University Games 2022-23.
Mr. Savio Tomy (S5 ME) of SJCET Palai had won the Bronze Medal (Boys Kumite – 84 kg) in the APJAKTU Karate Championship 2022-23 at MA College of Engineering, Kothamangalam on 19/12/2022

KTU 5th Intercollegiate Athletics Meet
5th Intercollegiate Athletics Meet was conducted at Thiruvanathapuram on 27, 28 & 29 April 2023. Ten (8 boys & 2 girls) students had participated in different events. Indraj S had secured Gold Medal in 110M Hurdle.
Intercollegiate Badminton Tournament
On November 29, 2022, an intercollegiate badminton tournament was conducted at Mar Baselious Christian College of Engineering and Technology in Peermade, and our team, which consisted of 5 players, participated in the tournament.
Football Carnival Kick Off 2022
On November 24, our department of physical education conducted a football carnival for the students called Kick Off. The programme started at 8:30 a.m. and continued until 5:00 p.m. in the evening. There were mainly 4 stations arranged (Ronaldo vs., The Goal, Statue, and Stand Straight). It made the students more active and energised.
INTER HOUSE FOOTBALL MATCH
• Inter house football match between SPARTANS v/s TITANZ and SPARTANS won the match by (1-0)
• The second match was between ASGARDIANS v/s SAMURAI and ASGARDIANS won the match by (2-1)
• The finals was conducted on 12/04/2023 between SPARTANS v/s ASGARDIANS and SPARTANS won the match in penalty shootout (4-5)
INTER HOUSE CRICKET MATCH
• Inter house cricket match between SAMURAI v/s TITANZ and TITANZ won the match by 8 wickets.
• The second match was between ASGARDIANS v/s SPARTANS and ASGARDIANS won the match by 7 wickets.
• The finals was conducted on 27/03/2023 between TITANZ v/s ASGARDIANS and ASGARDIANS won the match 4 runs.
The prize for the winners where distributed by Fr. Mathew Korankuzha, Manger, SJCET, Palai.
INTER HOUSE VOLLEYBALL MATCH
• Inter house volleyball match between ASGARDIANS v/s SPARTANS and ASGARDIANS won the match by 13-25, 21-25.
• The second match was between SAMURAI v/s TITANZ and SAMURAI won the match by 15-25, 14-25.
• The finals was conducted on 22/03/2023 between SAMURAI v/s ASGARDIANS and SAMURAI won the match by 23-25, 23-25.
• The loosers final was conduceted between TITANZ v/s SPARTANS and SPARTANS won the match by 16-25, 15-25.

Annual Athletic Meet 2023
On March 31, 2023, Rev. Fr. Mathew Korankuzha, Manager of SJCET, Palai, officially opened the college’s sports day. The SJCET football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, badminton, and karate teams, together with all four houses, were assembled for a march past of athletes. Also given out was the reward for March before. And the majority of the pupils participated in various events on April 1, 2023, showing great sportsmanship.
