FACULTY ACHIEVEMENTS

Prof. Sarju S, CSE received the Top 5 Karma award from Gtech Mulearn at the Permute’24 event held at Technopark, Trivandrum. This award is given to the top 5 faculty members within the Mulearn platform based on the Karma points gained by completing tasks available in the platform. Prof. Sarju S has earned 19.43K Karma points from Mulearn.

SJCET, Palai, was selected and recognized for the “NPTEL Aspirant Award” by IIT Madras, for having the maximum number of candidates certified in NPTEL examinations. On behalf of our institution, Prof. Jibin Philip, NPTEL SPOC, received the award from Dr. Andrew Thangaraj, NPTEL Coordinator, IIT Madras. The event was organized by IIT Madras.(June-2024)

Congratulations to Prof. Sarju S on being elected as the Vice Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Kerala Chapter, the largest society chapter of the IEEE Kerala Section with 4,500 members!

DEPARTMENT EVENTS
An outreach program was organized by the department for students of Sacred Heart High School, Bharnanganam.
An expert talk on Computer Fundamentals and introduction to Artificial Intelligence was delivered by Dr. Praseetha V. M., while Prof. Jikku Thomas delivered an expert talk on Robotics and Automaton Processes.

Astroquest
The Astroquest quiz attracted over 80 participants, offering a dynamic and competitive environment. Conducted on the Quiziz platform, the competition covered topics such as astronomy, space missions, and celestial phenomena. Alex S Vanissery secured the runner-up position, winning Rs. 250, while Nikitha Mathew took first place, earning Rs. 500. The event was a success, fostering interest in space exploration and contributing to the excitement of Space Week celebrations.
The CSI student chapter recently organized an invited talk on ‘Engineering – The Road Ahead’, which took place on 25th March 2024. The event featured Mr. Mridul George, Product Manager, Published Author, Screenwriter – Mollywood, Ex-Nielsen, Ex-Infosys, as the resource person. He shared practical tips & tricks for excelling in your engineering career.

It was conducted from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on google meet. The session was handled by Mr, Abimel S Kulumala,founder of Silicon Society,Cyber Security Instructor-Redteam Hacker Academy. It was an informative and useful session.

On 17th October 2024, IEEE SBC CS SJCET hosted an insightful online session titled Prompt Engineering, featuring Ms. Rini Sara Markose, a distinguished expert in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and AI systems. With her extensive knowledge in the field, Ms. Markose delved into the intricacies of prompt engineering, offering valuable insights into its applications and impact on modern AI-driven technologies. The session provided participants with a deeper understanding of how prompt engineering plays a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of AI models.
Resume Reboot
On December 19th, 2024, IEEE CS SBC hosted an engaging one-hour online session titled Resume Reboot, presented by Anna Thomas, a distinguished educator, junior consultant at Danfoss, and entrepreneur. During the session, Anna shared her expertise on crafting impactful resumes, offering valuable tips and insights into how students and professionals can effectively showcase their skills and experiences to stand out in today’s competitive job market. Participants gained practical knowledge on structuring resumes, highlighting key achievements, and tailoring their profiles to make a lasting impression on potential employers.
The CSI SJCET Chapter proudly launched its innovative and inspiring new initiative, Technical Marathon, designed to empower students with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills across various domains of technology. This flagship series aims to foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence, addressing the ever-evolving trends in the tech industry. The inaugural session of the Technical Marathon kicked off with a webinar on Web Development, offering participants an opportunity to explore the latest tools, techniques, and best practices in the field. With its promise of delivering a series of power-packed sessions, this initiative is set to become a cornerstone for skill enhancement and professional growth among students.
On October 23, 2024, the CSI Community of SJCET, Palai, successfully organized an Execom program titled Tech Sprint in the MTB Seminar Hall. The event served as a platform to inspire and showcase the technical skills and innovative mindset of the students. Drawing an enthusiastic participation of 40 students, Tech Sprint featured a variety of engaging and challenging activities that encouraged both collaboration and competitive spirit.
The CSI Student Chapter of St. Joseph’s College of Engineering & Technology, Palai, organized a full-day hands-on workshop on Blender and 3D Modelling on March 4, 2024. The workshop aimed to provide students with practical skills in using Blender, a popular open-source 3D modelling software.
The CSI Student Chapter of SJCET, Palai, successfully organized INVENTRA, an Inter College Project Competition on 6th March 2025. This event provided a platform for students to showcase their innovative projects, inspire the future, and connect with like-minded visionaries from various engineering colleges.
The CSI student chapter recently organized an online session on Figma Fusion, held on February 9, 2024. The session was led by Mr. Mathews P Mathew, a student of S8 CSE. Despite being a student-led session, it drew an impressive attendance of around 50 students. The session likely provided valuable insights into Figma Fusion, a popular tool for interface design and prototyping, benefiting all attendees and further enriching their skills in the field.
The CSI student chapter recently organized an online talk on Cyber Security, which took place on February 10, 2024. The event featured R Ashwin, Cyber Security Lead at GtechMulearn, as the resource person. Despite being conducted virtually, the talk drew an impressive attendance of around 50 students. Ashwin’s insights and expertise surely provided valuable knowledge to all attendees, enhancing their understanding of the critical field of Cyber Security.
The CSI Student Chapter of SJCET, Palai, successfully organized a hands-on workshop on Cybersecurity and Penetration Testing exclusively for S4 students from various departments on 14th February 2025. The session was designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of ethical hacking, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing techniques.
The CSI SJCET Chapter successfully organized a hands-on workshop on “Web Development and GitHub” on 14th January, 2025. This event aimed to equip students with essential skills in web development and GitHub, enabling them to create interactive web pages and manage projects efficiently.
