FEBRUARY 2026

ALUMNI TALK

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, in association with ECSA, organized an Alumni Talk for the S6 ECE students (2023 batch) on 06 February 2026. The session was delivered by Jiffil A. Joshy, Senior Engineer at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). As a proud alumnus of the department, he shared valuable insights from his professional journey and experiences in the field of defence electronics.

Project Readiness Program โ€“ Embedded AI (AIoT)

The ECSA of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering commenced the Project Readiness Program โ€“ Embedded AI (AIoT) under the IICTโ€“SJCET MoU, as a four-day offline hands-on training program conducted from 16th to 19th February 2026.

This initiative was designed to equip students with practical knowledge and project-level exposure in Embedded Artificial Intelligence and AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things), aligning academic learning with emerging industry demands. The program began with an inaugural online session delivered by Fabian Sowieja, Managing Director (CTO) & Co-Founder of IICT Germany. The subsequent offline sessions were coordinated by: Midhuna Dhananath, Bhanu Priya P S With support from Ashwin Raj. The training focused on practical implementation of Embedded AI concepts using development boards and AI-enabled IoT platforms. Students worked on real-time mini-projects integrating sensors, microcontrollers, and AI algorithms.

Interactive Session on Telecommunication Systems

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized an Interactive Session on โ€œTelecommunication Systems in the Energy Sectorโ€ on 25th February 2026 at MTB Seminar Hall, SJCET Palai, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The session was delivered by Mr. Ajin Abraham, Technical Solution Architect at Page Europa, who brought extensive industry experience in designing and implementing communication solutions for the energy sector.

Alumni Talk on Automotive Embedded Systems
Mr. Jackson Jose, Senior Software Validation Engineer at Garrett Motion Czech Republic s.r.o. and a 2012 B.Tech ECE alumnus, interacted with the S6 ECE (2023 batch) students on 30/12/2025. He shared his professional journey to his current role and highlighted emerging opportunities in automotive embedded systems.

Campus workshop on the “Basics of Electronics System Design

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SJCET, organized a Campus Workshop on โ€œBasics of Electronics System Designโ€ on 09 January 2026. The session was conducted by the expert team from Digital Core Technologies, Kochi, Kerala. The workshop was specifically designed for the B.Tech 2022โ€“26 batch students to strengthen their foundational understanding of electronics system design and to bridge the gap between academic concepts and industry practices.

Soft Skill Development” for the presentation final-year B.Tech ECE students (2023-27 batch)

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a Soft Skill Development session for the final-year B.Tech ECE students (2023โ€“27 batch) to enhance their presentation and professional communication skills. The session was conducted with the objective of preparing students for academic presentations, project reviews, campus placements, and professional interactions. As students approach the final phase of their undergraduate program, strengthening soft skills becomes essential alongside technical knowledge.

IDEA SPARK 2026 โ€“ Ideathon Orientation Session

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, in association with ECSA 2026>, organized IDEA SPARK 2026 โ€“ Ideathon Orientation Session on 30th January 2026 at 1:30 PM in the Seminar Hall, St. Peterโ€™s Block, SJCET. The session was led by Prof. Sabarinath G Pillai, Dept. ofย  Cyberseccurity, SJCET who served as the Resource Person for the event. The Dept. of ECE conducted a seminar on Effective Utilisation of Electronic Resources on 2 December 2025 (1:30 PM โ€“ 4:00 PM). The session was handled by Mr. Justine Thomas, Librarian, SJCET Palai, and offered practical guidance for project and seminar preparation.

A special technical interaction session was organized for the S6 Electronics and Communication Engineering students of St. Josephโ€™s College of Engineering and Technology (SJCET), Palai, as part of the ongoing IICTโ€“SJCET partnership. The session provided students with valuable global exposure to emerging technologies and international career opportunities.

Mr. Shone Jose, COO, IICT, introduced the LaaS (Learning as a Service) program and shared detailed insights regarding internship prospects and career pathways in Germany. His session highlighted the importance of global competence, industry readiness, and technical expertise in securing international opportunities.The technical segment of the program was led by Mr. Dominik Welte, Senior Software Architect, IICT GmbH, Germany, and a renowned German IoT/5G expert. Mr. Adithyan S Philip, ECE graduate of the 2020โ€“24 batch, currently working as an Embedded Software Engineer at Netra Semi, Treat Park, Trivandrum,addressed the S6 ECE students (2023โ€“27 batch) on 17/12/2025.

He shared insights on career opportunities in the VLSI domain and guided students on choosing suitable courses in Embedded Systems and VLSI aligned with industry requirements and long-term career goals.

Annual Alumni Meet

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), SJCET Palai, successfully organized a memorable Alumni Meet on 27 December 2025. The event brought together former students, faculty members, and current students in an atmosphere filled with warmth, nostalgia, and meaningful interaction.

The programme commenced with a formal welcome address by the Head of the Department, who expressed immense pride in the achievements of the alumni and emphasized the vital role they play in strengthening the academic and professional ecosystem of the department. The gathering reflected the strong bond that continues to exist between the institution and its graduates.

ECSA Value Added Course โ€“ Applied MATLAB & Simulink: Part II

The second session of the Value Added Course titled โ€œApplied MATLAB & Simulink for Circuit Analysis and Simulationโ€ was conducted on 7th October 2025. The course is organized by the Electronics and Communication Studentsโ€™ Association (ECSA) of St. Josephโ€™s College of Engineering and Technology, Palai, in collaboration with CoreEL Technologies.

This session formed a continuation of the 30-hour hybrid course that commenced on 9th September 2025. The program aims to provide students with practical exposure to MATLAB and Simulink tools for effective circuit analysis and simulation.

The session was handled by Mr. Dhanoop K. Dhanpal, Application Engineer at CoreEL Technologies, who once again led the class with his expertise and industry-oriented approach. During the session, students were introduced to advanced simulation techniques and practical methodologies for analyzing complex circuits using MATLAB and Simulink.

Circuit & Code: An Arduino Experienceโ€ โ€“ Hands-on Workshop on Arduino, Robotics & IoT

The Electronics and Communication Studentsโ€™ Association (ECSA), Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, St. Josephโ€™s College of Engineering and Technology (SJCET), Palai, organized a hands-on workshop titled โ€œCircuit & Code: An Arduino Experienceโ€ on 8th October 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at St. Michaelโ€™s HSS, Pravithanam.

The workshop was conducted for the enthusiastic members of the Little KITES Club, comprising students of 8th, 9th, and 10th standards. The primary objective of the program was to introduce young learners to the exciting domains of Arduino, Robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) through practical and interactive learning experiences.

Institute Interaction: 3-Day Advanced Training on โ€œIndustrial Pneumatic Controlsโ€

A three-day Advanced Training Program on โ€œIndustrial Pneumatic Controlsโ€ was organized from 8th to 10th October 2025 as part of the Industryโ€“Institute Interaction initiatives of St. Josephโ€™s College of Engineering and Technology (SJCET), Palai.

The training sessions were led by Er. Sasikumar Selvaraj, Training Session Head โ€“ South Region, SMC Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. The program was designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical exposure to industrial pneumatic systems and automation technologies.The participants included pre-final year Electronics and Communication Engineering students (2023โ€“27 batch). The sessions focused on the fundamentals of pneumatic control systems, industrial automation practices, and real-time applications used in modern industries.

Soft Skill Development Training for First-Year ECE Students

A two-day training program on โ€œSoft Skill Developmentโ€ was organized for the first-year B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering students (2025โ€“29 batch) on 15th and 16th October 2025 at St. Josephโ€™s College of Engineering and Technology (SJCET), Palai. The program was conducted by the Training and Placement Cell (TPC) of the institution.

The sessions were handled by Mr. Sanjesh, Managing Partner of TalenTus Institute for Transformation, Kerala, who brought extensive experience in professional training and student development. The training focused on enhancing essential soft skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, interpersonal skills, and confidence building.

Mr. Abin Alex, Project Manager โ€“ Building Management System, NAFFCO, Dubai, and alumnus of the 2020 B.Tech ECE batch, addressed the S7 ECE students (2022โ€“26 batch) on 27/10/2025.

He shared his professional experiences and highlighted the importance of undertaking projects that address real-world community needs through systematic and technical approaches.

Value Added Course (VAC) on โ€œApplied MATLAB & Simulink for Circuit Analysis and Simulation.โ€

The Electronics and Communication Studentsโ€™ Association (ECSA) of St. Josephโ€™s College of Engineering and Technology, Palai, in collaboration with CoreEL Technologies, organized a Value-Added Course (VAC) titled โ€œApplied MATLAB & Simulink for Circuit Analysis and Simulation.โ€

The course was designed to enhance studentsโ€™ practical knowledge and hands-on skills in MATLAB and Simulink for analyzing and simulating electronic circuits. The total duration of the course was 30 hours, and it was conducted in hybrid mode, enabling both offline and online participation.

Expert Talk: From Campus to Core โ€“ A Journey into Embedded Systems at Bosch: An inspiring session organized by ECSA was held on August 14, 2025, at 2:30 PM in the SPB Seminar Hall, featuring Mr. Afsal M.M., Lead Engineer โ€“ Embedded Systems at Bosch Global Software Solutions. He shared valuable insights on the real-world journey from college to a professional career in Embedded Systems at Bosch.

Keltron Industrial Visit โ€“ Power Electronics Division: On 6th August 2025, the S5 ECE students of 2023โ€“2027 batch visited the Keltron Equipment Complex, Thiruvananthapuram Karakulam, for a focused industrial interaction with the Power Electronics Division.
Students explored the design and testing of high-capacity systems including UPS units (up to 600 kVA), battery chargers, and inverters, engineered for deployment in defense, nuclear, and industrial sectors. The visit offered exposure to advanced validation protocols such as Seismic Qualification, EMI/EMC compliance, and Environmental Stress Screening, reinforcing the importance of reliability in mission-critical applications.
A technical session on UPS architecture and load management provided practical insights into system-level design and fault-tolerant engineering.

INDUSTRY EXPERT TALK :Our S5 ECE students (2023โ€“27 batch) had the opportunity to interact with Mr. Shone Jose, COO of IICT โ€“ International IoT Communication Technologies and Vice Chair (Entrepreneurship Activities), IEEE India Council, on 18th August 2025 from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. He delivered an engaging session on Career Opportunities in Electronics & Communication and the Recent Trends in Communication Engineering, inspiring students to align their learning with industry needs.

Alumni Interaction : Sandesh.S, 2017-21 batch B. Tech ECE and currently working as Electronics Engineer at Bharat Electronics Limited(BEL), Bangalore addressed the 5th semester(2022-26 Batch) ECE students about the career opportunities in Electronics Engineering and his experience to the journey to BEL.

Alumni Interaction :Ashik Mohammed Sali, a 2020 graduate of the ECE department and currently pursuing Masters at Stevens Institute of Technology,Hoboken, New Jersey,USA addressed the 5 th semester(2022-26 Batch) B.Tech ECE students on 16th August 2024. During his talk, he shared perspectives from his experience in the Electronics industry and provided guidance on pursuing higher studies abroad.

AICTE Sponsored Three Days Offline VAANI (-Vibrant Advocacy for Advancement and Nurturing of Indian Languages*). Seminar on โ€œAdvancements in Electronics Systems for Healthcare Applicationsโ€ was conducted for teachers and staff from colleges, schools and UG, PG, research students from 29/08/2024 to 31/08/2024.

SOFT SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: Four-day training program on “Soft Skill Development” for the final-year B.Tech ECE students (2022-26 batch) on 21/07/2025,23/07/2025, 06/08/2025 and 07/08/2025. The program is organized in association with the Placement Cell.
The session was led by Mr. Roshan Roy, Director & Managing Partner of TalenTus Institute for Transformation, Kerala.

ELEVATE YOUR GATE-2026 GAME : A special session on GATE-2026 by the resource persons from ONES to the students of Dept. of Electronics and Communication SJCET PALAI on 29th July 2025 at SJCET Palai.

SESSION ON TECHNICAL PAPER WRITING: A technical session on “How to Prepare a Technical Paper” was conducted for the final year B.Tech ECE students (2022โ€“2026 batch) on 26th July 2025, from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM via Google Meet. The session was handled by Dr. Arun P., Associate Professor and Head, Dept. of ECE, SJCET Palai.

ANTIRAGGING AWARENESS PROGRAM: An Anti-Ragging Awareness session was conducted for the second-year B.Tech students (S3 ECE) on 15th July 2025, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the St. Francis Seminar Hall. The session was delivered by Adv. Ravikumar, former Additional Government Pleader (AGP) and Public Prosecutor (PP).

CAREER GUIDANCE SESSION FOR FINAL YEAR ECE STUDENTS โ€“ 2022-26 BATCH: Mr. Sachin Jose, Training and Placement Officer, SJCET Palai, addressed the final-year students of the 2022-26 batch on 8th July 2025. The session focused on current placement opportunities in core electronics companies, offering valuable knowledge into industry trends and expectations.

ALUMNI INTERACTION: Ms. Ann Maria Shaji, an alumna of the 2020โ€“2024 batch of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, currently working as a System Engineer at Quest Innovative Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Kochi, addressed the third and seventh semester B.Tech ECE students on 01st July 2025. She shared valuable knowledge on career opportunities in the VLSI domain and guided students on how to effectively prepare themselves to become industry-ready professionals.

The session focused on current placement opportunities in core electronics companies, offering valuable knowledge into industry trends and expectations. He also guided students on higher education prospects, highlighting pathways for postgraduate studies, competitive exams, and research opportunities.

Technichal Talk: Electronics and Communication Students Association (ECSA) organized an offline tech talk session on “Trends and Opportunities in VLSI” by Er. Sreejeesh S.G, Senior Technical Officer at NIELIT, Calicut for the 3rd and 4th year students of ECE department on 11/02/2025(01:30 om) at MTB Seminar Hall.

Technichal Talk: A talk session on “Embedded Systems: From Idea to Implementation” by Anto Manuel, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE was organised by ECSA for 3rd year students (2022-26 batch) on 13 th February(10:00am) at SPB 305 Seminar Hall.

Webinar on โ€œHarnessing AI for Diagnostics: ML & DL in Biomedical Imaging Applications by Dr. Nisha J S (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Sensors & Biomedical Technology, VIT, Vellore) was conducted on 15 th February (8:00pm) in online mode.

Alumni Interaction: Ms. Neha Mary, Associate-II Cloud Infrastructure Services, UST and Ms. Aksha Johnson, Embedded Test Engineer, Continental, Bangalore, both distinguished alumni of B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering of 2016-2020 batch addressed the S8 ECE students(2021-25 batch) on 3rd January 2025.Neha shared her expertise in the software domain, focusing on essential skills such as public speaking, personal grooming, and professional growth strategies. Aksha provided valuable insights into system design, underscoring the importance of technical documentation and suggesting advanced courses that students could consider after graduation, especially in the field of electronic system design. Their thoughtful perspectives and experiences served as a source of inspiration and practical guidance for the students.

Soft -Skill Training: Two-day Soft Skill training program – “The Young Professional”- Organized by the Placement Cell and ECSA, for S6 ECE students was conducted on 08/01/2025 & 09/01/2025.The session was handled by by Mr. Roshan Roy, Director & Managing Partner of Talen Tus Institute for Transformation, Kerala. The training aimed to equip the students with essential soft skills to enhance their employability; covering areas like communication, leadership, and teamwork.

Talk Session on ‘Scamming & Human Psychologyโ€™: An interactive session on ‘Scamming & Human Psychology’ was successfully conducted by ECSA on 23rd January 2025. Ms.Ann Mary P Raju from Kristhu Jyothi College of Law, Bangalore, delivered an engaging talk, shedding light on how scammers manipulate emotions and cognitive biases to deceive individuals.S2 ECE students actively participated, gaining valuable awareness on identifying and preventing fraud. The session was both informative and thought-provoking.

Technical Talk: Online Technical Session on Analog Circuit Design Using Cadence Tools was organised in collaboration with ECSA and Entuple Technologies Pvt Ltd for for S4 ECE students on 24th January 2025( 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM ) at Seminar Hall, Mother Teresa Block. The session was handled by Mr. Sanjay G S, Field Application Engineer, Entuple Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore.

Bangalore was conducted for S5 (2022-27 Batch)ECE students, organised by ECSA on 07/09/24 at 2:00pm at Seminar Hall (Mother Theresa Block).

Three Days Advanced Training on ‘Industrial Pneumatic Controls’, by Er. Sasikumar Selvaraj, Training session head – South Region, SMC Cooperation India Pvt. Ltd was conducted for the qualified students of S5 ECE B. Tech students from 25/09/2024 โ€“ 27/09/2024.

Industry Institute Interaction: Mr.Timi Abraham,Talent Acquisition โ€“ Campus Relations at UST Global led a 2 hours pre-placement talk to final UG and PG students of SJCET, on 30/09/2024 at St.Francis Block Seminar Hall in association with the Placement cell.In this session,he introduced about UST’s recruitment process, the opportunities available for fresh graduates and Post graduates, UST’s work culture, domains, and technologies etc.

OCTOBER 2024

Alumni interaction – Mr. Charles P. Alex, Senior System Engineer, 6D Technologies Pvt. Ltd., and Mr. Ajith Kumar, Communications Engineer at British Telecom, UK (alumni of the 2016-2020 B. Tech ECE batch) was conducted for S5(2022-27 Batch) ECE students on 15/10/2024.

“Jumpstarting a Career in Electronics and Related Domains”-Tech Talk by Er. Robin Tommy, Vice Chairperson of IEEE RAS Kerala Chapter and Impact Innovations & Startup Mentor at TCS was conducted for S5(2022-26 Batch) and S7 (2021-25). B. Tech ECE students on 18/10/2024.

Skillforge – An outreach program to create enthusiasm among the high school students organised as part of ‘Prayana’ by IEEE RAS Kerala chapter. The students were given an Introduction to the fundamentals of Robotics followed by a workshop on how to start with developing a Robot. The event was held at various laboratories of the Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engineering SJCET PALAI on 18/10/2024.

On 21/10/2024, the S5 ECE students of 2022-26 batch of St. Joseph’s College of Engineering & Technology, Palai – Autonomous had the opportunity to visit Cochin International Airport (CIAL).The visit provided indepth knowledge into the operations of Air Traffic Control (ATC) units, where students witnessed live demonstrations of the ATC tower control, approach control, and area control systems. The students also visited CIAL’s 14.4 MW solar power plant, learning about its efficient solar energy generation and the associated systems. This visit was an excellent exposure for the students, enriching their understanding of both air traffic management and sustainable energy systems.

The two-day training program on “Soft Skill Development” for the final-year B.Tech ECE students (2021-25 batch) was conducted on ย on 23rd and 24 rth October 2024. The program is organized in association with the Placement Cell.The session was led by Mr. Roshan Roy, Director & Managing Partner of TalenTus Institute for Transformation, Kerala. The training aimed to equip the students with essential soft skills to enhance their employability; covering areas like communication, leadership, and teamwork.

The program is jointly organized by the Placement Cell and ECSA.
